Rural Youth (Skills Development)

Main objective:

To train and transfer the skills necessary to enter the hospitality sector of the burgeoning eco-tourism industry of South Africa to young unemployed and unskilled youth from rural areas of the country, with special reference to young women from the poorest of poor family circumstances. The DDT contributes to the internships of the students after they complete their full year of academic training.

  • Number of students trained thus far: 106 per annum.
  • Highlight: 100% of the students get placed onto a paid internship upon completion and 100% find employment within a year of completing the 2-year programme.
